The title refers to a passage in the bible where Man was created on the sixth day in the story of creation. In this architectural representation of a woman’s psychological space, white delicate furniture is set poignantly against the vastness and rough concrete of an unfinished room. Metaphorically and symbolically, the objects and furniture weave together symbol and meaning to represent and explore the idea of an individual’s potential. There is present in the work, the desire and ambition to fulfill one’s potential and ironically, the accompanying fear of failure and stagnation. Tiny white wire spiders climb and nurse various egg-like forms (Christmas ornaments, pearls, pins, beads) within sparkling crystal containers inside and atop the furniture. Some of the “eggs” respond to the attention given and sprout tiny green leaves. Others remain stagnant, static and unresponsive to the spider’s tender ministrations.
